Bonds or tapes? A guide to choosing the right hair extensions for you

Which type of hair extensions should you choose for stunning results? That’s the big question! There are various factors to take into consideration.

Bonding extensions

As the name suggests, these extensions use keratin to bond individual strands of hair together. The connection points are melted with heat tongs, then the extensions are attached to your natural hair. There are two methods of attaching bonded extensions: the first involves attaching individual strands of hair by hand with heat tongs, though it is also possible to mechanically attach several extensions at the same time. The second technique is far speedier, though in contrast to attaching individual hairs it does not allow for anywhere near as detailed application.

Hairdreams offers both methods. Depending on what hairstyle the customer wants and their natural hair type, the human hair extensions are either attached individually with the FreeStyler, or up to five strands of hair are attached simultaneously with the NANO laser beamer.

Tape extensions

Tape extensions are strips of adhesive that hold together strands of hair and which are fixed to your natural hair. The most common method for attaching tapes is known as the sandwich method; one tape is attached above a section of your natural hair and one tape below. To ensure a comfortable fit, it’s important that the adhesive strips are thin and soft as this allows them to adapt perfectly to the shape of the head – this way nothing pricks or scratches the scalp.

Hairdreams works with two different types of tapes: Quikkies and Quikkies Secrets. With their thin, light and flexible adhesive strips, Quikkies tape extensions are hardly noticeable. Qikkies Secrets, on the other hand, are totally invisible.
