#PinkRibbon2022: Together against breast cancer

Why October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and what you can do - for yourself and for those affected.

As an official partner of the Pink Ribbon Campaign 2022 of the Austrian Cancer Aid, in October we will devote our focus to the topic of breast cancer: so that more women consider and think about prevention before it is too late. That way the disease is detected earlier and conversations about the diagnosis are no longer considered something to be ashamed about.

Prevention can save lives

The earlier a cancer diagnosis is established, the better the chances of full recovery! Why is this so important to us? Because we and our partner salons work with people affected on a daily. With our hair loss solutions, we often help women who want their old hair back after going through chemotherapy.

Because breast cancer is one of the most common types of cancer among women, we are confronted with this issue every day. One more reason to become ACTIVE and do something about it!

This year, as an official partner of Pink Ribbon, we can raise awareness about the disease even more intensively than usual! Because the more people who make some nosie, the better!
Colour for our partner salons with the pink laser beamer NANO
The Laserbeamer NANO – a device for hairdressing salons to apply bonding extensions – shines for the first time in glorious pink! Our partner salons can use the special edition to draw attention to the cause so that breast cancer becomes a topic of conversation even when visiting the hairdresser.
Donate to organisations
We actively donate to various institutions that use their budgets for awareness campaigns on the one hand and support current research projects on cancer on the other. In cooperation with our wonderful partner salons, we also support those affected directly and provide Hairdreams hair at a reduced price or free of charge.

What you can do

1. Take Care of Yourself!

Yes, you read that right! To prevent breast cancer, it is important that you take care of yourself and your health. Avoiding smoking and alcohol, eating a balanced diet and getting enough exercise are important factors in reducing the risk of cancer.

2. drumming along loudly

October is an excellent opportunity to raise awareness about breast cancer. You can talk about the disease to your friends and family members and remind them about screening, wear pink more, share posts on social media – the possibilities are endless!

3. Strengthen Breast Awareness

The gold standard for early breast cancer detection is mammography, as this is the only way for early detection of tumors (BEFORE they are palpable!). Experts also advise a general breast awareness, which means in detail: Any changes in the breasts (redness, retracted nipples, secretion on and around the nipple, etc.) that you notice, for example, when showering, must be reported to a doctor. However, breast palpation is NOT a substitute for regular mammography!

4. Take the examinations seriously

From the age of 40, women in Austria are recommended to have a mammography (X-ray examination of the breast) every two years. Doing this can be life-saving, because it can also detect small tumors that cannot be felt when palpating the breast.
